What is Hypnosis?
What is Hypnotherapy?
A New Way to Work With Your Subconscious Instead of It Against You!
Remember these are simple and general answers to these questions.
Hypnosis is a normal state of mind that we all go in and out of several times a day. For instance, have you ever been driving and can't remember how you got home? Or "in the zone" when working on a project? Nearly everyone daydreams! These are all examples of Hypnosis - also known as 'trance'. This State of Being happens every day for everyone.
Because it feels like such a normal state and they were expecting something very strange. Some people ask if they’ve really been hypnotized. The zombie-type states you see being shown in movies and TV are pure fantasy.
And, just like you can immediately get out of that "Driving Trance" if someone cuts you off it traffic - if needed you can always get out of Hypnosis. The hypnotist is only guiding you - YOU are doing the work. (This also means you can't be coerced into doing something that you do not want to do.)
Hypnosis is the name that has been given to the application of various methods to place a person into this relaxed state and laser beam focus. It is getting into this state "On Purpose With a Purpose".
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic practice that uses guided hypnosis to help a client reach a trance-like state of focus, concentration, diminished peripheral awareness, and heightened suggestibility. This state is similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, music, or even one's own thoughts or meditations. In it, a person is unusually responsive to an idea or image, but they are not under anyone’s “control.” Instead, a trained clinical hypnotherapist can help clients in this state relax and turn their attention inward to discover and utilize resources within themselves that can help them achieve desired behavioral changes or better manage pain or other physical concerns. Eventually, a client learns how to address their states of awareness on their own and in doing so, gain greater control of their physical and psychological responses.
Remembering the experience is entirely an individual thing, it totally depends, if you want to, you will remember.
You will go as deep as you need to, The depth of the hypnotic state used to be considered vital, but latel hypnosis professionals have realized that depth (or not) may vary with the subject's need.
Interestingly, hypnosis improves with repetition. The more hypnosis one undergoes, the easier one drops down into the trance state. Familiarity and practice make it easier and easier.
Everyone can be hypnotized. The only controlling factor is that the person has to be willing to be hypnotized. “All hypnosis is self-hypnosis” is a common phrase which means if you want to do it - you will.
There are a very small minority of people who have difficulty being hypnotized they are usually those who (1) a) don’t really want to be hypnotized (perhaps to debunk the idea); or (2) can’t relax and let go to go with the experience. (perhaps fearing loss of control or fearing the unknown.)
Not at all. Hypnosis is a very natural and normal state. You cannot be held against your will. Just like one quickly "comes to" when in a Driving Trance if they're cut-off while driving in traffic.
If you have any questions about whether or not hypnosis will help or conflict with a present medical condition, please ask me. Depending upon details, I may have you get a release from your doctor.
Interestingly, hypnosis/hypnotherapy reduces stress and often also reduces the related symptoms. Over time you may find that you need fewer amounts of it or lesser strength of the drug. Hypnosis can often complement traditional medical care and as more doctors learn the value, they are in favor it.
No! That's a very fun form of entertainment - but is not about therapy of any kind. Many similar processes are used, but the 'point of it all' and outcomes are very different. And, the participant is always ultimately in control. Just like you wouldn't want entertainment in your therapy - you wouldn't want therapy in your entertainment!
Many issues can be resolved in one session - others need many. It depends upon the solution you're trying to find.
No, hypnotherapy doesn't always work. Just like other types of self-help, therapy and even medicine don't always work. But, the outcomes are amazing and I will continue to work with you to find the relief you're seeking.
Layered Difficulties
Sometimes a problem has layers. Hypnosis can help work towards solutions without adding to the trauma.
Ego State Sessions
Have a conversation with a "part of yourself" that may be causing difficulties. They CAN be re-directed!
Stress Management
Relaxation always help stress! And, there are ways to 'turn down' the anxiety and worry.
Unpack Mystery Problems
Sometimes we don't exactly know what's wrong, but something is off. Hypnosis can work with that.
What Is An Ego State?
What are Ego State Sessions?
Have you ever said "Part of me wants to go to the movie, but part of me doesn't"? Who are those parts? How many are there? How do they impact your life?
Only One Ego State is "in control" at any given time. Similar to being the person who answers the door when the doorbell rings. We want the healthy Personalities to answer - but sometimes we're not that lucky! How can you improve this simply by talking to them?
We all have different sub-personalities
They are created as we grow to help us with specific situations.
Some Ego States are mentally healthy and some struggle
About 10-15 Ego States are active all the time, but many others are dormant until needed or triggered.
You can talk to these sub-personalities and improve your life!
Find Your Balance. Set Your Goals. Take A Challenge. Reward Yourself. The Process Begins with YOU!
Facing ourselves is often scary and challenging. The discomfort causes is to not face the problems that are impacting our daily lives.
Common types of therapy feel like they take a long time and make us live through the problems over and over again. Although hypnosis doesn't eliminate this completely - it is greatly reduced.
